Version August 2026 · Takes effect when the Middleman app launches · Supersedes the July 2026 version
This Privacy Policy explains how Middleman App LLC (“Middleman,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Middleman mobile apps and websites (the “Service”). It applies to customers who request home services and to contractors and their technicians who provide them. By using the Service, you acknowledge this Policy.
Middleman App LLC is a Florida limited liability company operating a marketplace that connects customers with independent home-service professionals. We currently serve the Clermont, Florida area. Privacy contact: mm@middleman.llc · Middleman App LLC, Clermont, FL.
We use information to: create and manage accounts; match customers with contractors; process the $50 diagnostic fee, quotes, holds, payouts, and referral credits; verify contractor credentials and display badges; enable in-app communication; show arrival estimates; power the AI features described in Section 5; handle disputes and warranty claims; provide support; detect fraud and enforce our Terms; comply with law; and improve and secure the Service.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising. If that ever changes, we will update this Policy first and provide any opt-out the law requires.
Some features use large language models (“AI”) operated by a third-party provider. When you use the scope assistant or attach photos to a job posting, your job description, your answers, and your photos are sent to our AI provider to generate scoping questions, a job summary, and an estimated price range; we also use AI to triage jobs and summarize case activity for our support team. What you should know:
When a contractor (or technician) accepts a job and marks themselves en route, the contractor app collects periodic location fixes and sends them to our servers. Customers see only a derived arrival estimate — never the contractor’s raw coordinates. Collection stops when the contractor arrives. Location is used only for arrival estimates and related support and safety review — never for advertising, and it is never sold. Raw location fixes are retained for up to 30 days and then deleted or aggregated. Contractors control device location permission in system settings; the feature requires “while using the app” access only.
Payments, holds, and payouts are handled by Stripe, which is responsible for the security of card and bank data under its own terms and privacy policy. Middleman directs when funds are released but does not store full payment card numbers.
If you apply as a contractor (or join a team as a technician) and authorize it, we obtain a background check through Checkr, Inc., a consumer reporting agency. This is a “consumer report” under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act. We provide a separate, stand-alone disclosure and obtain your written authorization before ordering it. If we take adverse action based on a report, we follow the FCRA notice process, including a copy of the report and a summary of your rights. We store only the check’s status and report identifiers — never the report’s contents — we limit access to them, and we dispose of consumer-report information securely.
We and, where relevant, the other party to a job may contact you by email, push notification, and in-app message about your account and jobs, including automated messages. You can opt out of non-essential marketing messages using the unsubscribe link; transactional messages necessary to the Service cannot be turned off while you have an account.
When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your account record: your profile is anonymized, your login is disabled, and personal identifiers are removed from job history. Some records are retained as required or permitted by law, and this is what survives and why:
Our default retention periods while an account is active: chat messages and job photos — life of the account, then deletion or de-identification on account deletion; raw location fixes — up to 30 days (Section 6); AI prompts and outputs — only as long as needed to operate, debug, and improve the feature; security and audit logs — up to two years.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards: encryption in transit, access controls and row-level security in our database, two-factor authentication and access-walled tooling for our administrators, and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and authorities as required by law, including the Florida Information Protection Act.
The Service is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Middleman currently serves Florida only. Florida’s Digital Bill of Rights does not presently impose consumer-rights obligations on businesses of our size; we honor the access and deletion practices in Sections 10–11 for everyone as a matter of policy. If we expand to other states, we will update this Policy with any state-specific rights before launch.
We may update this Policy. We will post the new version with a revised effective date and, for material changes, provide additional notice in the app or by email. We will not use previously collected information for materially new purposes — including new AI training uses — without providing notice and obtaining any consent the law requires.
